Ingredients
Char Siu
- 4 lbs pork shoulder roast
Char Siu Sauce
- 2 pcs white bean curd
- 100 g red yeast rice sauce
- 100 g oyster sauce
- 20 g Shaoxing wine
- 10 g soy sauce
- 20 g sesame paste
- 60 g garlic
- 10 g shallot
- 3 g ginger
- 20 g sugar
- A pinch of five-spice powder
Glaze
-
Char Siu sauce and honey (1:1 ratio)
Directions
- Preheat the Turbo E Outdoor Electric Grill to 375°F while preparing the ingredients.
- Combine white bean curd, red yeast rice sauce, oyster sauce, Shaoxing wine, soy sauce, sesame paste, garlic, shallots, ginger, sugar, and five-spice powder in a blender. Blend until smooth.
- Slice the pork shoulder into 1-inch thick pieces. Massage the marinade into the pork for 2 minutes, ensuring even coverage. Cover and marinate in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours or overnight for the best flavor.
- Add a small amount of water to the drip tray to prevent the sauce drippings from burning.
- Place the marinated pork on the grill and cook for 15 minutes at 375°F.
- In a saucepan, mix equal parts char siu sauce and honey. Boil until it thickens into a glossy glaze.
- Brush the glaze generously onto the pork and return it to the grill for 5-7 minutes. Repeat the glazing process 2 more times, for a total cooking time of 30-35 minutes, until the pork is caramelized and golden.
- Slice the pork into bite-sized pieces and serve with fresh onions or your choice of sides.
